Press Release on the Passing of Dr. Daniel Aremu Laosebikan (Mosinola of Iwoland – posthumous)

It is with profound sorrow but with gratitude to God that we announce the peaceful passing of Dr. Daniel Aremu Laosebikan, at 11:50am on Sunday, March 29, 2026.

Dr. Laosebikan was renowned for his lifelong dedication to medicine, education, church and community service. From humble beginnings, he became the first medical doctor from Iwo, Osun state and rose through the ranks within the public service to become the Chief Medical Officer for the then Oyo State, developing health care services across southwestern Nigeria.

Upon retirement in 1989, he co-founded Onward Specialist Hospital, Osogbo, with his Late wife, Deaconess Naomi Adeduntan Laosebikan. As Chief Medical Director, he positioned the hospital as a leading health service provider in the region.

Over a distinguished career, Dr. Laosebikan mentored and inspired countless young professionals and played a pivotal role in improving healthcare access within his community. He was the first Chairman of the Osun State branch of the Nigerian Medical Association and subsequently became a medical Elder who generously, wisely, and tirelessly continued to advocate for public health and physician well-being. He served in the Medical Corps of the Nigerian Army during the Biafran war and was instrumental in the establishment of LAUTECH University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.

His kindness, passion for learning and positive influence enriched every environment in which he served, and he was widely respected and admired by colleagues, students, and community members alike.

Dr. Laosebikan will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for his kindness, compassion, integrity, and the lasting impact he had on all who were privileged to know him.

As we mourn this immense loss, we celebrate his remarkable legacy and the values he championed throughout his life, which will continue to inspire excellence and service for generations to come.
